For Students

Students are an integral part of The INN’s mission to promote awareness and meet the needs of hungry and homeless Long Islanders. Here are some ways students make a difference in the lives of so many.

Youth Advisory BoardThe INN’s Youth Advisory Board was established in October 2006 and is made up of student volunteer representatives from various schools and grade levels.

Our goal is to help find ways to educate and engage youth about the hunger and homeless problem on Long Island. The students bring information back to their respective schools and encourage their peers to get involved in helping others in their communities.

If you and your school would like to become a part of this wonderful group of students and The INN’s Youth Advisory Board, please contact Cynthia Sucich, Director of Communications, at (516) 486-8506 ext. 115 or csucich@the-inn.org.

VolunteerWe are always looking for students to come and volunteer at one of our Soup Kitchen locations. In order to volunteer during the hours meals are served, students must be 16 years of age or older.

Students who are younger than 16 years old are welcome to come in, with supervision, to volunteer at the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen, located in Hempstead, after 2:30 pm. During this time students will help sort food and clothing, prepare shower bags, fill the library with books, and help prepare the facility for the next day.

For student volunteer opportunities please email info@the-inn.org.
